Patrick Kane, Derrick Rose Has Everyone Thinking Short Playoff Lives In The United Center Come April
The United Center in Chicago, opened 21 years ago, remains state-of-the-art as the day it opened. Yet two of its current prize figures now have gone on the DL, Derrick Rose of the Bulls and Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks.
For Rose, it’s the third time in three years and the question of how long will he remain out following knee surgery has Bulls fans thinking the worse, but for Blackhawks fans, Patrick Kane now out for 12 weeks is a rarity and even more of a loss.
The truth is, the Bulls have been down this path with Rose, not the Blackhawks with Kane. Of course, Rose missed the entire 2012-13 season following an April, 2012 playoff injury. He then missed most of the 2013-14 season after suffering another injury early.
Kane on the other hand, and the Blackhawks in general, are not use to this. The unfortunate reality has sunk-in. One of the best skilled players in the NHL and top leading point-getters now has fans thinking, what are the odds of returning to Stanley Cup glory?
Rose you might expect this happening again, considering well, we have gone down this road before.
In the end, both teams remain hurt. Not since 1992, now gone Chicago Stadium, has the expectations exist for two finals in June.
Now the question goes, one playoff series and done for the Blackhawks and Bulls?
We’ll find out in April.
